Narratorial instruction within the Śrāddha-vidhi section (traditional Purāṇic voice attributed to Vyāsa’s narration in the Kurma Purana)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: karuna
This verse does not directly define Ātman; it teaches dharmic action (karma) through śrāddha—ritual service that aligns the householder with ṛta (cosmic order), which in Purāṇic theology supports inner purity conducive to Self-knowledge.
No formal yoga technique is taught here; the practice is ritual discipline—mantra-recitation, purity, and offering—treated in the Kurma Purana as preparatory sādhana (citta-śuddhi) that complements later yogic teachings such as Pāśupata-oriented devotion and restraint.
The verse is primarily śrāddha-instruction and does not mention Śiva–Viṣṇu unity explicitly; indirectly, it reflects the Purāṇic synthesis where correct dharma and ancestral rites are upheld across both Śaiva and Vaiṣṇava frameworks as a shared ground of spiritual life.
