Mādhayameśvara-māhātmya — Vyāsa at Mandākinī and the Pāśupata Vision
evamuktvā mahāyogī madhyameśānti ke prabhuḥ / uvāsa suciraṃ kālaṃ pūjayan vai maheśvaram
Purāṇic narrator (contextual narration within the Kurma Purana’s discourse frame)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It presents the yogic ideal of abiding in śānti (inner peace) while remaining devoted to Īśvara—suggesting that stable inner stillness and God-centered worship are complementary marks of realized discipline.
The verse emphasizes sustained abidance (uvāsa suciraṃ kālam) in a tranquil yogic state and continuous pūjā (worship) of Maheśvara—pointing to a synthesis of meditative steadiness with devotional-ritual practice aligned with Pāśupata-Śaiva orientation.
By placing Maheśvara-worship at the center of the mahāyogin’s long spiritual abidance, it reflects the Kurma Purana’s integrative stance where devotion to Śiva functions harmoniously within a broader Purāṇic framework that often supports Shiva–Vishnu unity.
