मोक्षं सुदुर्लभं मत्वा संसारं चातिभीषणम् / अश्मना चरणौ हत्वा वाराणस्यां वसेन्नरः
mokṣaṃ sudurlabhaṃ matvā saṃsāraṃ cātibhīṣaṇam / aśmanā caraṇau hatvā vārāṇasyāṃ vasennaraḥ
മോക്ഷം അത്യന്തം ദുർലഭവും സംസാരം അതിഭീകരവും എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞ് മനുഷ്യൻ വാരാണസിയിൽ വസിക്കണം—ആവശ്യമെങ്കിൽ കല്ലുകൊണ്ട് സ്വന്തം പാദങ്ങളെ അടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടെങ്കിലും (സ്വയം നിർബന്ധിച്ച്) അവിടെ നിലകൊള്ളണം.
