Dakṣa-yajña-bhaṅgaḥ — Dadhīci’s Teaching and the Destruction of Dakṣa’s Sacrifice
दधीच उवाच यतः प्रवृत्तिर्विश्वेषां यश्चास्य परमेश्वरः / संपूज्यते सर्वयज्ञैर्विदित्वा किल शङ्करः
dadhīca uvāca yataḥ pravṛttirviśveṣāṃ yaścāsya parameśvaraḥ / saṃpūjyate sarvayajñairviditvā kila śaṅkaraḥ
ദധീചി പറഞ്ഞു—എല്ലാ ലോകങ്ങളുടെയും പ്രവൃത്തി ആരിൽ നിന്നാണ് ഉദ്ഭവിക്കുന്നത്, അവയുടെ പരമേശ്വരൻ ആരാണോ; അവനെ ഇങ്ങനെ അറിഞ്ഞ് ജനങ്ങൾ സകല യാഗങ്ങളാലും ശങ്കരനെ സമ്യകായി പൂജിക്കുന്നു।

It frames the Supreme as the source of all manifestation (pravṛtti) and as Parameśvara; realizing this highest Lord is presented as the basis for true worship—implying that knowledge of the Supreme reality is primary, and ritual becomes meaningful when grounded in that realization.
The verse emphasizes viditvā—“having known/realized”—pointing to jñāna-oriented discipline (contemplation on the Supreme cause and Lord). In the Kurma Purana’s spiritual idiom, this aligns with inner realization supporting outer worship, a pattern echoed in Pāśupata-leaning devotion where insight into Īśvara informs practice.
By calling Śaṅkara the Parameśvara who is the source of the universe and the goal of sacrifice, it reflects the Purana’s synthetic theology: the Supreme is one, and sectarian names function as manifestations/titles of the same highest reality—supporting a non-dual, reconciliatory Shaiva–Vaishnava outlook.
