Nṛsiṁhadeva Appears from the Pillar and Slays Hiraṇyakaśipu
अलक्षितोऽग्नौ पतित: पतङ्गमो यथा नृसिंहौजसि सोऽसुरस्तदा । न तद्विचित्रं खलु सत्त्वधामनि स्वतेजसा यो नु पुरापिबत् तम: ॥ २४ ॥
alakṣito ’gnau patitaḥ pataṅgamo yathā nṛsiṁhaujasi so ’suras tadā na tad vicitraṁ khalu sattva-dhāmani sva-tejasā yo nu purāpibat tamaḥ
ചെറിയ കീടം വേഗത്തിൽ അഗ്നിയിൽ വീണാൽ അദൃശ്യമാകുന്നതുപോലെ, നൃസിംഹദേവന്റെ ദിവ്യപ്രഭയിൽ ആക്രമിച്ച ഹിരണ്യകശിപുവും അപ്പോൾ അദൃശ്യമായി. ഇതിൽ അത്ഭുതമില്ല; ഭഗവാൻ ശുദ്ധസത്ത്വധാമത്തിൽ സ്ഥിരൻ. സൃഷ്ടിയുടെ ആദിയിൽ അദ്ദേഹം അന്ധകാരമയ ബ്രഹ്മാണ്ഡത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ച് തന്റെ ആത്മീയ തേജസ്സാൽ അതിനെ പ്രകാശിപ്പിച്ചു।
The Lord is situated transcendentally, in pure goodness. The material world is generally controlled by tamo-guṇa, the quality of ignorance, but the spiritual world, because of the presence of the Lord and His effulgence, is free from all contamination by darkness, passion or contaminated goodness. Although there is a tinge of goodness in this material world in terms of the brahminical qualifications, such qualifications sometimes become invisible because of the strong prevalence of the modes of passion and ignorance. But because the Lord is always transcendentally situated, the material modes of passion and ignorance cannot touch Him. Whenever the Lord is present, there cannot be any darkness from the mode of ignorance. It is stated in Caitanya-caritāmṛta ( Madhya 22.31) :
This verse says the Lord is sattva-dhāma, the abode of pure existence, and by His own effulgence He has already swallowed up darkness—so ignorance cannot prevail before Him.
Because, like a moth that unknowingly rushes into flame and is consumed, Hiraṇyakaśipu met Lord Nṛsiṁha’s blazing power and was effortlessly destroyed.
Seek the Lord’s light through bhakti (hearing, chanting, remembering), because spiritual clarity grows by associating with that “effulgence,” and fear/ignorance (tamas) naturally diminishes.
