बभ्रु: शिष्योऽथाङ्गिरस: सैन्धवायन एव च । अधीयेतां संहिते द्वे सावर्णाद्यास्तथापरे ॥ ३ ॥

ശുനകന്റെ ശിഷ്യരായ ബഭ്രുവും സൈന്ധവായനനും അവരുടെ ഗുരുവിന്റെ അഥർവവേദ-സമാഹാരത്തിലെ രണ്ടു വിഭാഗങ്ങൾ പഠിച്ചു. സൈന്ധവായനന്റെ ശിഷ്യൻ സാവർണനും മറ്റു മഹർഷിമാരുടെ ശിഷ്യരും ഈ പതിപ്പുതന്നെ പഠിച്ചു।
