Kṛṣṇa Leads Kālayavana to Mucukunda; The Yavana Is Burned; Mucukunda’s Prayers and Boon of Bhakti
yavane bhasma-sān nīte bhagavān sātvatarṣabhaḥ ātmānaṁ darśayām āsa mucukundāya dhīmate
This verse states that after Kālayavana was burned to ashes, Lord Kṛṣṇa personally revealed His own form to the wise King Mucukunda—showing that Bhagavān grants direct vision to those favored by His mercy.
In the narrative, Mucukunda had long served the devas and received a boon that anyone disturbing his sleep would be burned; when Kālayavana died by that boon, Kṛṣṇa then appeared before Mucukunda to bless him and guide him toward liberation and devotion.
It teaches that divine grace follows sincere service and inner purity: when obstacles are removed, one should turn toward the Lord, seek His presence, and use life’s turning points to deepen bhakti and spiritual clarity.
