Kṛṣṇa Comforts His Parents, Restores Ugrasena, Studies with Sāndīpani, and Returns the Guru’s Son
श्रीसमुद्र उवाच न चाहार्षमहं देव दैत्य: पञ्चजनो महान् । अन्तर्जलचर: कृष्ण शङ्खरूपधरोऽसुर: ॥ ४० ॥
śrī-samudra uvāca na cāhārṣam ahaṁ deva daityaḥ pañcajano mahān antar-jala-caraḥ kṛṣṇa śaṅkha-rūpa-dharo ’suraḥ
സമുദ്രൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“ഹേ ദേവ കൃഷ്ണാ, ഞാൻ അവനെ അപഹരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. ദിതി-വംശജനായ മഹാദൈത്യൻ പഞ്ചജനൻ—ജലത്തിനകത്ത് സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന, ശംഖരൂപം ധരിച്ച അസുരൻ—അവനാണ് അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയത്.”
Clearly the demon Pañcajana was too powerful for the ocean to control; otherwise the ocean would have prevented such an unlawful act.
