Kṛṣṇa Comforts His Parents, Restores Ugrasena, Studies with Sāndīpani, and Returns the Guru’s Son
तमाह भगवानाशु गुरुपुत्र: प्रदीयताम् । योऽसाविह त्वया ग्रस्तो बालको महतोर्मिणा ॥ ३९ ॥
tam āha bhagavān āśu guru-putraḥ pradīyatām yo ’sāv iha tvayā grasto bālako mahatormiṇā
ഭഗവാൻ കൃഷ്ണൻ സമുദ്രാധിപനോട് പറഞ്ഞു—“എന്റെ ഗുരുപുത്രനെ ഉടൻ സമർപ്പിക്കൂ; ഇവിടെ നിന്റെ മഹത്തായ തരംഗങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ട് നീ ഗ്രസിച്ച ആ ബാലനെ.”
This verse shows Kṛṣṇa Himself demanding the return of His guru’s son, highlighting that honoring and serving the guru is a sacred duty—even for Bhagavān.
Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma went to fulfill Sāndīpani Muni’s request by retrieving his lost son; Kṛṣṇa commands the ocean (who had ‘taken’ the boy by a great wave) to return him.
Practice sincere respect and service to one’s teacher—through obedience, gratitude, and responsible conduct—seeing learning and guidance as sacred rather than merely transactional.
