Vishwarupa Darshana Yoga
दिव्यमाल्याम्बरधरं दिव्यगन्धानुलेपनम् । सर्वाश्चर्यमयं देवमनन्तं विश्वतोमुखम् ॥ ११.११ ॥
divya-mālyāmbara-dharaṃ divya-gandhānulepanam | sarvāścaryamayaṃ devam anantaṃ viśvato-mukham || 11.11 ||
ദിവ്യമായ മാലകളും വസ്ത്രങ്ങളും ധരിച്ചവൻ; ദിവ്യസുഗന്ധലേപം അണിഞ്ഞവൻ; സമസ്ത അത്ഭുതങ്ങളാൽ സമ്പന്നനായ ദേവൻ—അനന്തൻ, സർവ്വദിക്കുകളിലേക്കും മുഖമുള്ളവൻ.
वह दिव्य मालाओं और वस्त्रों को धारण किए हुए था, दिव्य सुगन्धित लेप से युक्त था; वह समस्त आश्चर्यों से युक्त देव, अनन्त और सब ओर मुखवाला था।
Wearing divine garlands and garments, anointed with divine fragrance; a god made of all wonders, infinite, with faces on every side.
“विश्वतोमुखम्” is a key epithet: it may be read as literal “faces everywhere” or as a way of saying “turning toward all directions,” i.e., all-inclusive presence.
The sensuous divine imagery (garlands, fragrance) can be read as the mind’s way of representing value and reverence, not merely sensory detail.
Infinity and “faces everywhere” communicate a reality not bounded by spatial limitation—an emblem of the divine as the horizon of all experience.
The verse continues the escalating description, moving from multiplicity (many faces/eyes) to omnidirectionality and infinity.
It can support contemplative reflection on inclusivity—training attention to regard persons and situations from multiple angles with equal seriousness.
