Sukta 1
यत् त्वा सोम प्रपिबन्ति तत आ प्यायसे पुनः । वायुः सोमस्य रक्षिता समानां मास आकृतिः
yát tvā sóma prapíbanti tátá ā́ pyāyase púnaḥ | vāyúḥ sómasya rakṣitā́ samā́nāṃ mā́sa ā́kṛtiḥ ||
When they drink thee, O Soma, therefrom thou swellest full again. Vāyu is Soma’s guardian; the month is the form of the equal-running days.
ഹേ സോമ, അവർ നിന്നെ പാനം ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ, അതിൽ നിന്നുതന്നെ നീ വീണ്ടും നിറഞ്ഞു വീർപ്പോടെ വളരുന്നു. വായു സോമത്തിന്റെ രക്ഷകനാണ്; സമഗതിയിൽ ഓടുന്ന ദിവസങ്ങളുടെ രൂപമാണ് ‘മാസം’ (മാസം/തിങ്കൾ).
