Sthala Purana: Colophon marking the closure of Chapter 17: Jambūdvīpa-varṣa description within the Brahmāṇḍa-kathana of the Umāsaṃhitā.
Significance: Textual ‘phala’ is implicit: hearing/knowing sacred cosmography is treated in Purāṇas as meritorious śravaṇa; no specific tīrtha-visit is prescribed here.
Shakti Form: Umā
Role: teaching
Cosmic Event: Brahmāṇḍa-kathana (cosmic-egg narration) as the framing topic
This is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter; spiritually, it emphasizes śāstra-smarana (reverent remembrance of scripture) and frames cosmology as part of Śiva’s orderly governance of the universe.
Though not describing a ritual directly, it situates the narrative within Śiva Purāṇa—where Saguna Śiva (worshipped as Liṅga) is the Lord who sustains cosmic order; cosmological chapters support devotion by portraying creation as dependent on Śiva (Pati).
No specific practice is prescribed in this colophon; a practical takeaway is pāṭha (recitation) or śravaṇa (listening) of the completed chapter with devotion to Śiva, optionally beginning/ending with pañcākṣarī japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”).
