Sthala Purana: Colophon (iti…): chapter-end marker naming the adhyāya ‘Gṛhapati-avatāra-varṇana’.
Significance: Textual framing only; no direct tīrtha instruction in the verse itself.
This is a chapter-colophon marking completion of the narrative unit; spiritually, it frames Shiva’s avatāra-līlā as purposeful teaching—revealing the Lord (Pati) through intelligible forms for the uplift of bound beings (paśu).
By naming an avatāra-focused chapter within the Śatarudra Saṃhitā, it supports Saguna contemplation—approaching the transcendent Shiva through manifest forms—while remaining consistent with Shiva as the ultimate reality beyond form.
As a colophon it gives no direct rite, but it implicitly recommends śravaṇa/manana (listening and reflective contemplation) of Shiva’s forms, ideally accompanied by Panchākṣarī japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and devotion.
