Sūta Gosvāmin (traditional Purāṇic narrator concluding the chapter colophon)
This is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter; spiritually, it preserves the textual hierarchy and sanctity of the narration, reminding the listener that the Purāṇa is a structured transmission of Śiva-tattva and the Devas’ reliance on Śiva’s grace.
By situating the passage within the Rudra Saṃhitā and Pārvatī-khaṇḍa, it frames the narrative as part of Saguna Śiva’s līlā and protection of the cosmic order—an orientation that supports devotional worship of Śiva (including Liṅga-upāsanā) as the accessible form of the Supreme (Pati) for devotees.
No specific rite is prescribed in this colophon; as a practical takeaway, one may conclude recitation with remembrance of Śiva and a brief japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” dedicating the merit to Śiva and the welfare of all beings.
