It shows that worldly desire (Manmatha) becomes powerless before Śiva, the Pati (Supreme Lord) who conquers death and grants liberation; fear arises when the soul relies on its own “weapons” instead of surrendering to the Lord.
By depicting Śiva as the visible, sovereign Mṛtyuñjaya, it supports Saguna worship—approaching the Lord through form, name, and reverence (such as the Śiva-liṅga)—as the means to overcome fear, karma, and mortality.
Meditate on Śiva as Mṛtyuñjaya and recite the Mṛtyuñjaya mantra with bhakti; accompany it with traditional Śaiva observances like vibhūti (tripuṇḍra) and japa on rudrākṣa to steady the mind beyond desire and fear.
