Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadyojāta
It teaches that the body becomes fit for Shaiva worship when purified by ācamana and sanctified by mantra-charged bhasma, symbolizing the burning of impurities and the devotee’s orientation toward Shiva (Pati) as the liberating Lord.
Before approaching the Linga (Saguna Shiva worship), the practitioner performs external and internal purification; applying bhasma with Vedic-Shaiva mantras is a preparatory act that aligns the worshipper’s body and mind for reverent linga-arcana.
Perform ācamana, take bhasma while reciting the Sadyojāta mantra, consecrate it with “Agni…”-beginning mantras, and then touch/apply it to the body (bhasma-dhāraṇa/Tripuṇḍra) as part of daily Shaiva sādhana.
