This Indra hymn (with a recurring refrain) asks the Soma-drinking, truth-bearing hero to make the poets’ praise effective and to grant tangible prosperity—cattle, horses, and “shining thousandfold” abundance. It also petitions Indra to break obstructive forces and hostile clamour, so that gifts and right utterance may awaken and prevail.

यच्चिद्धि सत्य सोमपा अनाशस्ता इव स्मसि । आ तू न इन्द्र शंसय गोष्वश्वेषु शुभ्रिषु सहस्रेषु तुवीमघ ॥
Even if, O truthful Soma-drinker, we are as if unpraised and insufficient, yet come—O Indra—and make us worthy of the true utterance: in the rays of Light and in the powers of force, in the shining thousandfold plenitudes, O wide-giving One.

शिप्रिन्वाजानां पते शचीवस्तव दंसना । आ तू न इन्द्र शंसय गोष्वश्वेषु शुभ्रिषु सहस्रेषु तुवीमघ ॥
O strong-lipped lord of plenitudes, O master of power-acts, make your effective workings manifest for us. Come, Indra, and establish our right acclaim in the rays and in the steeds of force, in the shining thousandfold abundance.

नि ष्वापया मिथूदृशा सस्तामबुध्यमाने । आ तू न इन्द्र शंसय गोष्वश्वेषु शुभ्रिषु सहस्रेषु तुवीमघ ॥
Put to sleep the two who look awry—the twin distortions—let them remain unawakened. Then come, Indra, and make our true acclaim effective amid the rays and the forces, in the bright thousandfold plenitudes.

ससन्तु त्या अरातयो बोधन्तु शूर रातयः । आ तू न इन्द्र शंसय गोष्वश्वेषु शुभ्रिषु सहस्रेषु तुवीमघ ॥
Let those who withhold and obstruct be diminished; let the gifts awaken, O hero. Come, Indra, and make our true acclaim effective in the rays and the forces, in the shining thousandfold plenitudes.

समिन्द्र गर्दभं मृण नुवन्तं पापयामुया । आ तू न इन्द्र शंसय गोष्वश्वेषु शुभ्रिषु सहस्रेषु तुवीमघ ॥
O Indra, crush the braying ass—this noisy evil impulse—by that baneful power; then come and make our true acclaim effective in the rays and the forces, in the shining thousandfold plenitudes.

पताति कुण्डृणाच्या दूरं वातो वनादधि । आ तू न इन्द्र शंसय गोष्वश्वेषु शुभ्रिषु सहस्रेषु तुवीमघ ॥
Far away it flies—like wind sweeping from the forest—the force of the crooked enchantress; then come, Indra, and make our true acclaim effective in the rays and the forces, in the shining thousandfold plenitudes.

सर्वं परिक्रोशं जहि जम्भया कृकदाश्वम् । आ तू न इन्द्र शंसय गोष्वश्वेषु शुभ्रिषु सहस्रेषु तुवीमघ ॥
Slay every surrounding outcry; crush the howling Kṛkadāśva. Then come, Indra, and make our true acclaim effective in the rays and the forces, in the shining thousandfold plenitudes.
