किं नु सीताऽथ वैदेही मैथिली जनकात्मजा।।।।उपतिष्ठेत विवशा रावणं दुष्टचारिणम्।
kiṃ nu sītā ’tha vaidehī maithilī janakātmajā |
upatiṣṭheta vivaśā rāvaṇaṃ duṣṭacāriṇam ||
ຫຼືວ່າສີຕາ—ໄວເທຫີ ໄມຖິລີ ທິດາແຫ່ງພຣະຊະນະກ—ໃນຄວາມອ່ອນແອແລະບໍ່ມີທີ່ພຶ່ງ ຈະຍອມຈໍານົນແກ່ຣາວະນະຜູ້ປະພຶດຊົ່ວນັ້ນຫຼື?
"My salutations to Lakshmana, Rama and divine daughter of Janaka. Salutations to Rudra, Indra, Yama and Vayu. Salutations to Sun, Moon and Maruts!"
The verse tests fidelity and moral steadfastness under coercion—Dharma here is the expectation of unwavering chastity and integrity, and the refusal to attribute moral failure to the virtuous without proof.
While searching in Laṅkā, Hanuman anxiously wonders whether Sītā, isolated and threatened, could ever have been forced into submission to Rāvaṇa.
Hanuman’s moral discernment and concern for Satya: he fears a possibility, yet frames it as a question, reflecting caution before concluding anything about Sītā’s character.
