The Descent of the Gaṅgā and Bhagiratha’s Fulfilment
तस्यावलेपनं ज्ञात्वा क्रुद्धस्तु भगवान् हर:।।।।तिरोभावयितुं बुद्धिं चक्रे त्रिनयनस्तदा।
tasyāvalepanaṃ jñātvā kruddhas tu bhagavān haraḥ |
tirobhāvayituṃ buddhiṃ cakre trinayanas tadā ||
ເມື່ອຮູ້ວ່ານາງມີຄວາມຈອງຫອງ ພຣະພະຄະວານ ຮະຣະ (ພຣະສິວະ) ກໍໂກດກະຫນ້າ; ແລ້ວພຣະອົງຜູ້ມີສາມພຣະເນດ ຕັ້ງພຣະທັດສະນະຈະເຊື່ອນນາງໃຫ້ພົ້ນສາຍຕາ ແລະຂັດຂວາງທາງໄຫຼຂອງນາງ
Then the three-eyed Lord Siva, aware of her proud intentions applied his intelligence to conceal her.
Power must be governed by dharma. Śiva’s intervention represents moral-cosmic regulation: arrogance is corrected, and destructive force is contained.
Śiva perceives Gaṅgā’s proud intent and decides to stop her by concealing/holding her back.
Protective restraint and discernment—Śiva uses controlled power, not impulsive destruction, to restore balance.
