Unspecified (context not provided in input; likely a senior sage instructing a listener in a dialogue frame)

Concept: Steadiness of mind (sthairya) removes inner impurity just as a steady lamp in a windless place expels soot; anxiety and wavering are obstacles to purification.

Application: Create a 'nirvāta' environment daily: fixed time for japa/reading, reduce sensory agitation, and return to one chosen practice when the mind wavers.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A quiet hermitage interior where a single oil lamp burns perfectly steady in a windless alcove, its flame upright and unwavering. Wisps of dark soot curl away and dissolve into a soft halo of light, symbolizing impurities leaving the heart as the meditator sits calm nearby.","primary_figures":["a serene sage/aspirant (yogin)","symbolic oil lamp (dīpa)"],"setting":"forest āśrama hut with clay walls, a small niche for the lamp, meditation mat, minimal ritual vessels","lighting_mood":"temple lamp-lit","color_palette":["lamp-gold","smoke-charcoal","sandalwood-beige","deep indigo","copper-brown"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: a tranquil āśrama shrine corner with a perfectly steady brass oil lamp in a windless niche, thick gold-leaf halo around the flame, a seated yogin with folded hands and calm eyes, rich maroon and emerald textiles, ornate borders, gem-studded lamp base, symbolic soot rendered as dark curls dissolving into gold radiance.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate hermitage room with delicate linework, a small steady lamp on a low wooden stand, thin smoke trails like calligraphy, a contemplative yogin seated on a simple rug, cool twilight blues and soft ochres, subtle forest glimpses through a window, refined facial features and lyrical stillness.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold black outlines, a central upright flame with stylized aureole, the yogin seated in padmāsana with simplified ornaments, warm red-yellow-green palette, temple-wall texture, soot depicted as rhythmic dark motifs leaving the lamp and fading into a luminous background.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: devotional still-life centered on a golden lamp with lotus motifs around it, intricate floral borders, peacocks perched quietly, deep blue background with gold highlights, the yogin small and reverent at the side, soot transformed into decorative dark swirls that become lotus petals—purification motif."}

FAQs

It advises cultivating steadiness and self-possession, reducing anxiety and indecision so that mental impurities are naturally expelled.

A lamp protected from wind burns steadily; the simile highlights that when the mind is not agitated, it becomes clear and can throw out its “soot”—inner defilements.

Act from a stable, disciplined mind rather than from fear or wavering; inner stability supports clear judgment and righteous conduct.
