kanyovāca tāta tena vinā kālo viphalaḥ pratibhāti me / vivāho viphale kāle madvidhāyāḥ kathaṃ bhavet

The verse dramatizes the human need for meaningful timing: actions are not judged only by correctness of form, but by perceived ripeness (kāla-paripāka).
Narrative ethics (vaṃśānucarita-type episode), illustrating the doctrine of kāla as a determinant of results.
‘Fruitless time’ suggests a mismatch between inner readiness and cosmic rhythm. The maiden’s intuition reflects a belief that saṃskāras ‘take root’ only when time and psyche are synchronized.
