मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The passage links divine favor to disciplined restraint: Agni, approached through strict observances, becomes ‘pleased’ and then grants puṣṭi—nourishment and prosperity—showing a dharmic ethic where order, self-control, and right practice sustain life.
Mārkaṇḍeya introduces a particular form/name of Agni called Bharata and explains his epithets: he is ‘Puṣṭimati’ because he bestows prosperity when satisfied, and ‘Bharata’ because he supports and maintains all creatures.
