वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse frames seasonal change as a lawful cosmic process: the Sun regulates the vitality (tejas) of all beings by his movement, and the waxing/waning of vigor in creatures follows this larger order (ṛta).
Vaiśaṃpāyana describes the Sun’s turning/withdrawing in his course and how, at that time, the Sun ‘draws in’ the energies of living beings, leading to torpor and increased sleep, as part of the seasonal cycle that ultimately supports the world.
