वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights ethical speech rooted in right intention: one should speak from genuine love (prema), respectful regard (bahumāna), and sincere friendship (sauhṛda), especially when affirming loyalties and alliances in a tense political context.
In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war negotiations and alignments, the speaker (as reported by Vaiśampāyana) expresses that the goodwill felt for the Pāṇḍavas is equally directed toward Mādhava (Kṛṣṇa), emphasizing trust and affectionate solidarity.
