Vidura’s Counsel to Krishna on the Limits of Peace
सम्बन्धी दयितश्नासि धृतराष्ट्रस्य माधव । त्वं हि गोविन्द धर्मार्थो वेत्थ तत्त्वेन सर्वश: । तत्र कारणमिच्छामि श्रोतुं चक्रगदाधर
sambandhī dayitaś ca asi dhṛtarāṣṭrasya mādhava | tvaṃ hi govinda dharmārthau vettha tattvena sarvaśaḥ | tatra kāraṇam icchāmi śrotuṃ cakragadādhara ||
ໄວສັມປາຍະນະ ກ່າວວ່າ: «ໂອ ມາທະວະ, ເຈົ້າເປັນທັງຍາດສະນິດ ແລະເປັນຜູ້ທີ່ພຣະຣາຊາ ທຣິຕະຣາສະຕຣະ ຮັກໃຄ່. ໂອ ໂກວິນດະ, ເຈົ້າຮູ້ຢ່າງແທ້ຈິງ ແລະທົ່ວທຸກດ້ານ ວ່າອັນໃດແມ່ນ ທັມມະ ແລະອັນໃດແມ່ນ ອັດຖະ. ດັ່ງນັ້ນ ໂອ ຜູ້ຖືຈັກຣະ ແລະ ຄະທາ, ຂ້ອຍປາຖະໜາຈະຟັງເຫດຜົນທີ່ເຈົ້າບໍ່ຮັບການຕ້ອນຮັບຂອງຂ້ອຍ».
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse frames Kṛṣṇa as one who comprehends both dharma (moral duty) and artha (pragmatic policy) completely, implying that ethical clarity must guide diplomatic choices; even acts like accepting hospitality can carry moral and political consequences.
Vaiśampāyana addresses Kṛṣṇa, noting his close relationship with Dhṛtarāṣṭra and his full knowledge of dharma and artha, and asks why Kṛṣṇa is not accepting the offered hospitality—seeking the motive behind this deliberate diplomatic restraint.
