Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic etiquette: first honor the worthy (especially sages and guests), then inquire with humility about their path and purpose, and offer service. Respectful reception and readiness to serve are presented as ethical virtues.

Vaiśampāyana narrates that Kṛṣṇa, after performing proper worship of visiting sages, questions them courteously—asking where they attained perfection, what route brought them, what their purpose is, and how he may serve them.
