महाभये सम्प्रवृत्ते रथस्थं विवर्तमानं समरे कृतास्त्रम् । सर्वा दिश: सम्पतन्तं समीक्ष्य तदा युद्ध धार्तराष्ट्रोडन्वतप्स्यत्
sañjaya uvāca | mahābhaye sampravṛtte rathasthaṃ vivartamānaṃ samare kṛtāstram | sarvā diśaḥ sampatantaṃ samīkṣya tadā yuddhe dhārtarāṣṭro ’nvātapsyāt ||
ສັນຊະຍະກ່າວວ່າ: ເມື່ອຄວາມຢ້ານກົວອັນໃຫຍ່ຫຼວງເກີດຂຶ້ນໃນສະໜາມຮົບ ແລະສະຫະເທວະ—ຢືນຢູ່ເທິງລົດຮົບ ພ້ອມອາວຸດ ຊຳນານອາວຸດ—ຫມຸນວຽນໃນການຕໍ່ສູ້ ແລະພຸ້ນເຂົ້າໃສ່ສັດຕູທຸກທິດ, ເມື່ອທຸຣະໂຍທະນະ ບຸດແຫ່ງທຣິຕະຣາສະຕຣະ ເຫັນເຂົາຈົມຕີທຸກທາງ, ກໍຈະຖືກຄວາມເສຍໃຈອັນເຜົາໄໝ້ຄອບງຳໃນກາງສົງຄາມ ເມື່ອຄິດເຖິງຜົນຂອງເສັ້ນທາງອັນອະທຳຂອງຕົນ.
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores that adharma-driven ambition culminates in inner torment: when confronted with the righteous side’s prowess and the likely outcome, the wrongdoer (Duryodhana) is consumed by remorse—an ethical warning about the psychological and karmic cost of unjust war.
Sañjaya describes a battlefield scene where Sahadeva, expertly maneuvering on his chariot and attacking in all directions, creates widespread fear; witnessing this, Duryodhana is predicted to feel intense regret in the midst of the war.
