Bhishma’s Account of Parashurama’s Challenge and the March to Kurukshetra

The verse uses poetic hyperbole to show that violent conflict can overwhelm even the perceived stability of nature; ethically, it hints at war’s power to disrupt order (loka-saṃsthā) and thus invites reflection on restraint and dharma in the face of escalating hostility.
Bhīṣma describes a battle moment where volleys of arrows fill the sky so densely that the wind seems ‘cloud-blocked’; the accompanying sense (as reflected in the received context) is that sunlight and airflow are dulled by the missile-storm.
