होत्रवाहन उवाच
The verse emphasizes dharmic conduct in communication: approach the spiritually senior with humility, offer respectful salutation, and then deliver one’s message truthfully and in proper order. Reverence (abhivāda) and disciplined speech are presented as ethical prerequisites to dialogue.
Hotravāhana instructs a young woman (implied by the blessing and the Hindi gloss “बेटी”) to go to a particular place, respectfully bow to an ascetic elder renowned for austerity and firm vows, and then convey Hotravāhana’s words to him.
