Bhīṣma’s Appointment as Commander-in-Chief
शकुनि: सौबलश्चैव कर्णदुःशासनावपि । त्वय्ययुक्तान्यभाषन्त मूढा मूढममर्षणम्,सुबलपुत्र शकुनि, कर्ण और दुःशासन--इन तीनों मूखोंने मूढ़ और असहिष्णु दुर्योधनके समीप आपके विषयमें अनेक अनुचित बातें कही थीं
śakuniḥ saubalaś caiva karṇa-duḥśāsanāv api | tvayy ayuktāny abhāṣanta mūḍhā mūḍham amarṣaṇam ||
ພຣະກຣິດສະນາຕັດວ່າ: «ຊະກຸນິ ລູກຊາຍຂອງສຸບະລະ ພ້ອມດ້ວຍກະນະ ແລະ ດຸຫະສາສະນະ—ຄົນຫຼົງຜິດສາມຄົນນີ້—ໄດ້ເວົ້າຄຳບໍ່ສົມຄວນ ແລະບໍ່ຍຸດຕິທຳຫຼາຍປະການກ່ຽວກັບເຈົ້າ ຕໍ່ໜ້າດຸຣໂຍທະນະຜູ້ໂງ່ ແລະບໍ່ອົດທົນ».
कृष्ण उवाच
Unethical speech and malicious counsel—especially when directed at a proud, intolerant leader—distort judgment and accelerate adharma. The verse highlights how ‘ayukta’ (unfitting) talk, fueled by delusion, becomes a moral cause of political ruin.
Krishna points out that Śakuni (Subala’s son), Karṇa, and Duḥśāsana had been feeding Duryodhana with improper statements about the Pandavas (the ‘you’ addressed), reinforcing his stubbornness and hostility during the tense negotiations before the war.
