इन्द्रके पूछनेपर द्विजश्रेष्ठ नारदने उन्हें जैसे और जिस ढंगसे वह कथा कही थी, वैसे ही मैं भी कहूँगा। तुम भी मेरी कही हुई उस कथाको ध्यान देकर सुनो ।।
indra-ke pṛcchane para dvijaśreṣṭha-nāradena tebhyaḥ yathā ca yena ḍhaṅgena sā kathā kathitā āsīt, tathā eva aham api vakṣyāmi | tvam api mayā uktāṃ tāṃ kathāṃ dhyānaṃ dattvā śṛṇu || iti śrīmahābhārate śāntiparvaṇi mokṣadharmaparvaṇi ucchavṛttyupākhyāne dvipañcāśad-adhika-triśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ ||

भीष्म उवाच

Bhishma introduces an upcoming instructive tale: Narada previously narrated it to Indra in response to a question, and Bhishma now promises to recount the same story in the same manner, urging the listener to hear it attentively.
