Aging and Death Cannot Be Overstepped
अनेन साम्यं यास्यामि नानयाहमचेतया । क्षेमं मम सहानेन नैकत्वमनया सह
anena sāmyam yāsyāmi nānayāham acetayā | kṣemaṃ mama sahānena naikatyam anayā saha ||
ວະສິດຖະ ກ່າວວ່າ: «ກັບພຣະອັດຕາສູງສຸດນັ້ນ ຂ້ອຍຈະບັນລຸຄວາມຄ້າຍຄືທີ່ແທ້ຈິງ; ບໍ່ແມ່ນກັບທຳມະຊາດອັນບໍ່ຮູ້ສຶກນີ້. ຄວາມເກືອກກູນຂອງຂ້ອຍຢູ່ໃນການຮ່ວມສະຫມັກກັບພຣະອັດຕາສູງສຸດ ບໍ່ແມ່ນໃນການເປັນອັນດຽວກັບຫຼັກວັດຖຸນີ້».
वसिष्ठ उवाच
The verse teaches viveka: seek likeness/union with the Supreme Self (Paramātman), not identification with insentient prakṛti. True kṣema (welfare) lies in spiritual union rather than material self-identification.
Vasiṣṭha is articulating a renunciant insight within Śānti Parva’s mokṣa-oriented discourse: he rejects merging his identity with inert nature and declares his aim to attain the state of the Supreme.
