युधिषछ्िर उवाच न पार्थिवमिदं राज्यं न भोगाश्च पृथग्विधा: । प्रीणयन्ति मनो मे5द्य शोको मां रुन्धयत्ययम्,युधिष्ठटिर बोले--मुने! यह भूतलका राज्य और ये भिन्न-भिन्न प्रकारके भोग आज मेरे मनको प्रसन्न नहीं कर रहे हैं। यह शोक मुझे चारों ओरसे घेरे हुए है
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca
na pārthivam idaṁ rājyaṁ na bhogāś ca pṛthagvidhāḥ |
prīṇayanti mano me 'dya śoko māṁ rundhayaty ayam ||
ຍຸທິສຖິຣະ ກ່າວວ່າ: «ໂອ ມຸນີ! ບໍ່ວ່າຈະເປັນອຳນາດການປົກຄອງໃນແຜ່ນດິນນີ້ ຫຼືຄວາມສຸກສຳລານຫຼາຍປະເພດ ກໍບໍ່ອາດເຮັດໃຫ້ໃຈຂ້າພະເຈົ້າຊື່ນບານໃນວັນນີ້. ຄວາມໂສກນີ້ໄດ້ຫໍ້ຫຸ້ມຂ້າພະເຈົ້າທຸກດ້ານ»។
युधिषछ्िर उवाच
Worldly power and sensory enjoyments lose their appeal when the mind is overwhelmed by moral anguish and grief; inner healing and dharma-based counsel become necessary before rulership can be meaningful.
In the Śānti Parva, after the devastation of the Kurukṣetra war, Yudhiṣṭhira speaks to a sage, confessing that kingship and pleasures cannot console him; his sorrow and remorse dominate his mind.
