Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how courteous, dharma-coded speech (inquiring after welfare, addressing as ‘son’) can be used to frame a politically charged invitation. It cautions that ethical discernment is needed: polite forms do not guarantee pure intent.

Vidura reports Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s message to the Pāṇḍavas: after asking about their well-being, the Kuru king invites them to come with their brothers to see a newly built assembly hall comparable to theirs—an invitation that leads into the fateful court gathering.
