The verse highlights disciplined martial duty: protecting a principal warrior through assigned roles (cakra-rakṣā) and steadfast loyalty in battle, showing how coordinated protection and selfless support uphold a warrior’s mission.
As a key warrior advances into the Kaurava formation, the Pāñcāla fighters Yudhāmanyu and Uttamaujā follow immediately behind as rear-guards, specifically tasked with protecting the chariot’s wheels and preventing attacks from the back.
