The verse frames righteous royal duty (rājadharma) as a force that, when combined with justified wrath, becomes decisive and inescapable in its consequences. It warns that wrongdoing invites total ruin—not only of warriors but of an entire social and economic household (sons, cattle, kin).
Sañjaya reports to the blind king Dhṛtarāṣṭra, addressing him as ‘paraṁtapa,’ that the Kaurava side should be considered already lost. He attributes this to the king’s (or the addressed hero’s) anger and unwavering commitment to rājadharma, implying that once such a figure is provoked, the Kauravas’ destruction is certain.
