अध्वर्यु–यति संवादः
Adhvaryu–Yati Dialogue on Svabhāva, Ahiṃsā, and Mokṣa
तमध्वर्यु: प्रत्युवाच नायं छागो विनश्यति । श्रेयसा योक्ष्यते जन्तुर्यदि श्रुतिरियं तथा,अध्वर्युने यतिको इस प्रकार उत्तर दिया--'यह बकरा नष्ट नहीं होगा। यदि “पशुर्व नीयमान:” इत्यादि श्रुति सत्य है तो यह जीव कल्याणका ही भागी होगा
tam adhvaryuḥ pratyuvāca: nāyaṃ chāgo vinaśyati | śreyasā yokṣyate jantur yadi śrutir iyaṃ tathā ||
ປະໂລຫິດອັດວາຣະຍຸຕອບກັບວ່າ: “ແບ້ນີ້ບໍ່ໄດ້ຖືກທໍາລາຍ. ຖ້າຄໍາສອນແຫ່ງເວດ (śruti) ທີ່ກ່າວເຖິງ ‘ສັດຖືກນໍາໄປ (ເພື່ອພິທີ)’ ເປັນຄວາມຈິງ, ຊີວິດນີ້ຈະໄດ້ຮ່ວມກັບຄຸນຄ່າອັນສູງກວ່າ.”
ब्राह्मण उवाच
The verse presents a ritual-ethical claim: when an act is grounded in śruti (Vedic authority) and performed as prescribed, it is framed not as destruction but as leading the being toward śreyas (higher welfare). It highlights the tension between apparent harm and scriptural justification within dharma-discourse.
In a dialogue setting, a Brāhmaṇa raises an implicit concern about the fate of a sacrificial goat. The Adhvaryu responds by asserting that the goat does not truly ‘perish’; rather, if the relevant Vedic injunction is valid, the creature is said to attain a beneficial outcome through the rite.
