भीष्म उवाच
Steadfastness in vows and dharma requires detachment: even attractive, wealth-laden offerings should be renounced when they threaten to distract from spiritual discipline and ethical resolve.
After making a statement (implied by “having said thus”), the sages abandon the gold-filled fruits and leave the place, demonstrating their firmness in vows and refusal to be swayed by material temptation.
