भीष्म उवाच
The verse emphasizes capacity aligned with duty: one who can uphold a vast responsibility (like sustaining the earth) should not shrink from a smaller, specific obligation (bearing an embryo). It frames endurance and protection as expressions of dharma and cosmic order.
Bhīṣma addresses a Devī, praising her world-sustaining power and reassuring her that carrying the pregnancy is well within her ability. The statement functions as encouragement grounded in her known cosmic role as supporter of the earth.
