भीष्म उवाच
When conduct is aligned with dharma, one gains not only moral merit but also effective prosperity (artha) and well-regulated enjoyment (kāma). Pṛthu is cited as the model: righteous rule brings comprehensive success and makes the Earth yield order and abundance.
Bhīṣma, instructing on dharma and the qualities of an ideal king, invokes the exemplar Pṛthu Vainya. By praising him as an excellent ruler and saying the Earth became like his daughter, the text signals the Earth’s willing cooperation—symbolizing fertility, stability, and prosperity under just governance.
