द्रोणस्य तु तदा शिष्यौ गदायोग्यौ बभूवतु: । दुर्योधनश्न भीमश्न सदा संरब्धमानसौ
vaiśampāyana uvāca | droṇasya tu tadā śiṣyau gadā-yogyau babhūvatuḥ | duryodhanaś ca bhīmaś ca sadā saṃrabdha-mānasau ||
ໄວສັມປາຍະນະ ກ່າວວ່າ: ໃນເວລານັ້ນ ດໂຣນະ ມີສິດສອງຄົນທີ່ເຫັນຊັດວ່າເໝາະສົມຢ່າງຍິ່ງໃນການຮົບດ້ວຍຄອນ—ດຸຣະໂຢທະນະ ແລະ ພີມະເສນະ. ໃຈຂອງທັງສອງມັກຈະລຸກໄຟຢູ່ເສມອ, ຕ່າງຄົນຕ່າງມີຄວາມໂກດແຄ້ນແລະການແຂ່ງຂັນຕໍ່ກັນ, ເປັນຄວາມອາຄາດທີ່ຕໍ່ມາຈະຫຼໍ່ລ້ຽງສົງຄາມໃຫຍ່.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Skill and training are ethically neutral; when fueled by persistent anger and rivalry, they become instruments that intensify adharma and widen conflict. The verse highlights how inner disposition (saṃrabdha-mānasa) shapes the moral outcome of martial prowess.
Vaiśampāyana notes that under Droṇa’s instruction, Duryodhana and Bhīma emerge as the foremost mace-fighters. At the same time, their mutual hostility is emphasized, foreshadowing their later central role in the Kurukṣetra struggle.
