Adhyāya 123 — Droṇa’s Pedagogy: Arjuna’s Preeminence, Ekalavya’s Self-Training, and the Bhāsa-Lakṣya Trial
बालक भीमके शरीरकी चोटसे चट्टान टूट गयी ततः पाणए्डुर्महाराजो मन्त्रयित्वा महर्षिभि: । दिदेश कुन्त्या: कौरव्यो व्र॒तं सांवत्सरं शुभम्
tataḥ pāṇḍur mahārājo mantrayitvā maharṣibhiḥ | dideśa kuntyāḥ kauravyo vrataṃ sāṃvatsaraṃ śubham ||
ຕໍ່ມາ ພຣະຣາຊາປານດຸ ໄດ້ປຶກສາກັບບັນດາມະຫາລິສີ ແລ້ວຈຶ່ງຕັດສິນໃຈ ແນະນຳໃຫ້ກຸນຕີ ຖືວຣະຕະ (vrata) ອັນເປັນມົງຄຸນ ຕະຫຼອດໜຶ່ງປີ.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
A ruler should act after deliberation with wise counselors, and dharmic discipline (vrata) is presented as a constructive, auspicious means to uphold welfare and order.
After consulting great sages, King Pāṇḍu decides on a course and directs Kuntī to observe an auspicious year-long vow (sāṃvatsara-vrata).
