Vidura asks about the chief of the Sātvata/Yadu clans—one whom Lord Kṛṣṇa personally installed as leader, highlighting a ruler connected with Kṛṣṇa and free from selfish ambition.
Because Vidura is inquiring about the welfare of Kṛṣṇa’s devotees and family after Kṛṣṇa’s departure from public affairs; his questions reflect affectionate concern for those sheltered by the Lord.
Leadership is meant for service, not ego; the verse teaches renouncing personal ambition and accepting responsibility only as an offering to God and the community.
