patitaḥ skhalito bhagnaḥ sandaṣṭas tapta āhataḥ harir ity avaśenāha pumān nārhati yātanāḥ
As stated in Bhagavad-gītā (8.6) :
This verse states that even an involuntary utterance of “Hari” protects a person from deserving punitive torments, highlighting the extraordinary purifying power of the Lord’s name.
They were stopping Ajāmila’s arrest and explaining that calling out the Lord’s name—even without full awareness—invokes divine protection and overrides ordinary karmic punishment.
Make remembrance of God’s names a daily habit; in moments of fear, pain, or crisis, turning to the holy name can reorient the mind toward devotion and spiritual refuge.
