Śukadeva Gosvāmī, while summarizing Lord Kṛṣṇa’s household life, begins to highlight the Lord’s principal sons. The epithet “Madhudviṣa” reminds the listener that the same Supreme Lord who destroys demonic forces also appears in intimate family relationships, establishing dharma through ideal conduct. Pradyumna is singled out as “the first” and described as “like his father,” indicating both prominence and divine excellence—strength, nobility, and leadership befitting the Yadu dynasty. This verse also teaches a devotional lens: the Lord’s family is not ordinary lineage but an expansion of His līlā, wherein His associates and descendants manifest extraordinary virtues that inspire remembrance, faith, and bhakti.

FAQs

Pradyumna is Lord Kṛṣṇa’s prominent son through Queen Rukmiṇī, described here as the foremost among Kṛṣṇa’s sons and possessing qualities like his father.

It emphasizes that Kṛṣṇa is the Supreme Lord who destroys demonic forces, yet He also performs intimate humanlike pastimes, including family life, to teach and attract devotees.

By remembering Kṛṣṇa’s qualities and seeing His līlā as spiritually instructive, one can cultivate devotion and aspire to reflect divine virtues—integrity, leadership, and dharma—in daily life.
