यमस्य अधिकारभङ्गः — वैष्णवस्य लक्षणम्
Freedom from Yama through Hari-śaraṇāgati
अशुभमतिर् असत्प्रवृत्तिसक्तः सततम् अनार्यविशालसङ्गमत्तः अनुदिनकृतपापबन्धयत्नः पुरुषपशुर् न हि वासुदेवभक्तः
aśubhamatir asatpravṛttisaktaḥ satatam anāryaviśālasaṅgamattaḥ anudinakṛtapāpabandhayatnaḥ puruṣapaśur na hi vāsudevabhaktaḥ
ಯಾವನ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಅಶುಭದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿದೆಯೋ, ಯಾವನು ದುಷ್ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸಕ್ತನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೋ, ಯಾವನು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ನೀಚರ ಸಹವಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೈಮರೆತಿರುತ್ತಾನೋ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತಿದಿನವೂ ಪಾಪದ ಬಂಧನವನ್ನು ಬಿಗಿಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಾನೋ, ಆ ನರಪಶುವು ವಾಸುದೇವನ ಭಕ್ತನಲ್ಲ.

Application: Change saṅga (company), adopt daily restraints (yama/niyama), and replace compulsive habits with regular sādhana and service.
Vishishtadvaita: Bhakti requires sattva-śuddhi: since the jīva is the Lord’s mode (prakāra), degrading conduct obscures its natural śeṣatva (belonging-to-God) and blocks loving surrender.
Vishnu Form: Vasudeva
This verse treats ignoble company as spiritually intoxicating and as a direct cause of attachment to unrighteous behavior, making genuine devotion to Vāsudeva impossible.
Parāśara defines the non-devotee by inner disposition and daily conduct: an impure mind, attachment to asat-pravṛtti, delight in base company, and continual effort that reinforces sinful bondage.
Vāsudeva is presented as the Supreme Lord whose bhakti requires moral and mental purification; devotion is not mere claim or ritual but alignment with dharma that loosens the bonds of pāpa.
