अलभ्यमानस्तनयः पितरौ क्लेशयेच्चिरम् । लब्धो हि गर्भपातेन प्रसवेन च बाधते ॥२४॥

अलभ्यमानः । तनयः । पितरौ । क्लेशयेत् । चिरम् । लब्धः । हि । गर्भ-पातेन । प्रसवेन । च । बाधते ।

IAST Transliteration

alabhyamānas tanayaḥ pitarau kleśayec ciram | labdho hi garbhapātena prasavena ca bādhate ||24||

Translation

ಪುತ್ರನು ದೊರಕದಿದ್ದರೆ ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲ ಪಿತಾಮಾತರನ್ನು ಕ್ಲೇಶಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ; ದೊರೆತರೂ ಗರ್ಭಪಾತ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಸವದ ಮೂಲಕ ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ಅವರನ್ನು ಬಾಧಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ.

Academic Translation

A son, when not obtained, would afflict the parents for a long time; and when obtained, indeed, he troubles (them) through miscarriage and through childbirth as well.
