skanda uvāca | dharmāraṇyasya cākhyānaṃ paramaṃ pāvanaṃ tathā | śrotumicchāmi tatsarvaṃ kathayasva maheśvara
Skanda
Tirtha: Dharmāraṇya
Type: kshetra
Listener: Maheśvara
Scene: Skanda, youthful and radiant, stands or sits with folded hands before Maheśvara (Śiva) in a forest-āśrama setting, requesting the full account of Dharmāraṇya; the atmosphere is solemn and purifying.
Seeking śravaṇa (devotional listening) to a tīrtha’s māhātmya is itself purifying; reverent inquiry opens the way to sacred knowledge.
Dharmāraṇya is the site whose māhātmya is requested.
Hearing (śravaṇa) the full sacred narrative is implied as a purifying practice, though no formal rite is specified.
