प्रतोदो वैश्यया धार्यो वासोंतः शूद्रया तथा । असवर्णा स्वेष विधिः स्मृतौ दृष्टश्च वेदने
pratodo vaiśyayā dhāryo vāsoṃtaḥ śūdrayā tathā | asavarṇā sveṣa vidhiḥ smṛtau dṛṣṭaśca vedane
ವೈಶ್ಯ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ದಂಡವಾಗಿ ‘ಪ್ರತೋದ’ (ಅಂಕುಶ) ಧರಿಸಬೇಕು; ಶೂದ್ರ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ‘ವಾಸೋಂತ’ ಎಂಬ ದಂಡ. ಅಸವರ್ಣ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಮೃತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ವೇದಸಂಬಂಧ ನ್ಯಾಯಬೋಧದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ವಿಧಿ ಕಂಡುಬರುತ್ತದೆ.
