ಕೆಲವರು ಪವಿತ್ರ ಅಗ್ನಿಗಳ ಸಮಾಧಾನ (ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ-ಪಾಲನೆ) ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು; ಕೆಲವರು ನಿರಂತರ ಸ್ಮಾರ್ತಾಚಾರವನ್ನು ಪಾಲಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ಪುರಾಣ-ನ್ಯಾಯಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದವರು, ವೇದ-ವೇದಾಂಗಗಳ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾತೃಗಳು.
